For those who haven't been here, Finland
is often thought of as a forbidding yet beautiful land of
perpetual snow and ice. In reality, during the short months
of summer, the sun hardly sets and Finland puts on a very
different kind of show.
The following photos were taken during a four-hour
period at Lake Vuotava (65km north of Helsinki) shortly
after midsummer. The sun set for an hour or two,
and for fifteen minutes the moon put in a fleeting
appearance. As the sun started to rise again, mist
rose from the lake creating a truly magical atmosphere...
Enjoy these desktops, and feel the magic of Finland whenever
