Media Information

Made in Finland and launched in July 2004, Expat Finland was conceived purely as a free information service to help people get things done in Finland. The site has become a respected and trusted reference source, receiving about 1100 visitors per day in 2022, picking up again post-COVID. It is particularly useful for people moving to Finland or recently arrived who need to access Finnish systems, products and services.

Listings: Are They 'Advertising'?
Expat Finland includes government and private sector listings. All inform of authorities and reputable groups, companies and organisations providing services commonly required by Expat Finland visitors. All listed companies are researched, and to the best of my knowledge all are trustworthy and provide professional service. If you have a complaint, compliment or comment about any listing please contact me. Expat Finland reserves the right to terminate listing of any organisation found to be acting unethically or unprofessionally.

As of 2023 most listings remain free, though the site is gradually being monetised. New private sector listings are subject to a fee in the majority of cases. Government authorities will always be listed free, as will most non-profit organisations.

Adding Your Company

Listings are limited to reputable organisations offering a service directly relevant to the page on which they are shown. This creates a mutually beneficial situation for providers and site visitors. Expat Finland is an attractive medium for reaching a targeted audience, with about 85% of visitors arriving directly at the Expat Finland page with the information they want from a Google/organic search.
Expat Finland does not promote services related to gambling or 'payday loans'.

Promotion Formats & Placement: Types of promotions are flexible. Common formats are a full paragraph of text with link(s), graphic advertisements, and in some cases promotion on Expat Finland's Facebook page. I'm happy to discuss any ideas you have.

Unlike many sites, the 'Home' page is not the best place to advertise at Expat Finland because most visitors arrive directly at the page they want from a Google search. Promotions will only be placed on pages where they are useful and relevant to site visitors.

Advertising Rates: Promotion fees vary significantly according to format, page, position, length of publishing period and other factors. Charges are typically for a fixed 12-month publishing period, though a 6-month publishing period is available for first-time clients. For special promotions, shorter publishing periods can be arranged.

Support: The following services are provided free of charge as part of promotion agreements:

  • Preparation of content and artwork
  • Updating of links and contact details throughout the publishing period, as required
  • Updating of text used in promotions, up to say 3 or 4 times per year
  • A 'traffic report', with Google Analytics figures for clicks from promotions and acquisition of visitors, is available any time upon request
